Céline Phantom Cabas Tote

Hello everyone, I know it has been a while since my last post. I had a minor technical glitch and then got caught up with work, but I am back with a very long post.

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen my recent Céline purchase, the cabas phantom leather handbag. It wasn’t an impulse purchase as I have been on the hunt for a practical tote leather handbag for a while. My long-suffering friends, family and colleagues were (I’m pretty sure) fed up of hearing me repeatedly saying; “I just need a simple black tote handbag”.

So the search begun, after not much luck on the high street, I went to the Céline store and found a black cabas handbag which I bought – the bag I bought looked perfect in the store, but when I got home it just looked so big. I mean, I know big bags are ‘in’ right now’, but the bag was overwhelming and so as perfect as the bag was I had to get an exchange. I eventually bought another tote, let’s just say the story goes on further, but it involved me exchanging the second Céline bag as that was somehow an even bigger sized bag than the first one – which meant yet another trip to Céline store – I had to ask a friend to come with me for moral support:-/ My excuse is that I was shopping in a hurry at the time of my purchases so I blame myself for picking the wrong size and more so as the bags cost the same price (regardless of the different sizes), this may also add to the mix up.

So, after all my exciting shopping drama I finally got the right sized bag. And that my friends is the (summarised) story of my ” I just need a simple black tote handbag” fashion tale. As for the bag itself, I love it, it’s a great basic tote – there is no zip and it is roomy enough to fit my files, laptop and other bits. A great investment tote.

also interested to know if it’s wearing well. Torn between this and a Givenchy medium Pandora… as an everyday NYC bag.

It’s wearing well, but the logo is getting slightly faint. I hope this helps

Hi! I’m OBSESSED with this bag and am thinking it’d be a great alternative to the neverfull as a work/everyday bag. Would you carry your laptop in it? I’m also wondering how well it keeps its shape/is it able to stay up on its own? Pls help!!!!!

Hi Judy, Yes, the bag fits a laptop and also still has space to fit more bits. My cabas doesn’t stand on its own.
      I hope this helps x
